The Lovibond RT100 Translucence
Tintometer includes a spectrophotometer unit, light-excluding funnel, color
measurement software for instrument operation and for presentation and
analysis of reflectance data on a PC computer, a white tubular calibration
standard, a white calibration standard for separate use of the spectrometer
unit, 5 sample tubes, low voltage power pack, PC interface cable, user
instructions and a carrying case. |
Color
control from batch to batch is an important quality characteristic for
many translucent products. The eye can easily detect differences in color
and,if two samples of the same product have a noticeable color difference,
then the consumer may judge the product to be of poor quality because of
the color inconsistency.
The
RT100 Translucence Tintometer is a compact colorimeter, giving spectral
data for color control of translucent liquids and semi solids. It consists
of a spectrometer unit with an integrated 45º / 0º measuring
head, mounted in a light-excluding funnel that houses the translucent samples
in tubes. The design establishes a standardized sample presentation and
measuring technique, which guarantees that color data are repeatable and
that sample comparisons are of significance, in particular:

A specific
sample path length,which must be fixed,as the color of a translucent sample
is dependent on its path length;

A constant
sample environment,an important feature because some of the light from
the spectrometer is transmitted through the sample;

Exclusion
of ambient light,which can affect measurements.
The
RT100 Translucence Tintometer combines advanced microspectrometer technology
with the computing power of a PC . The spectrophotometer unit links to
a standard PC computer with software installed for instrument operation
and for presentation,analysis and logging of reflectance data. The recommended
colour scale for translucent samples is CIE L*a*b* although results can
be expressed in the following choice of colour values and colour difference
measurements:
