Microprocessor based digital penetrometer provides highly reproducible consistency measurements of petroleum products. Penetrometer cone or needle falls freely into the sample and penetration depth is displayed in tenths of a millimeter after a preset interval. The standard ASTM interval of 5.0 seconds is programmed into the penetrometer, or a different interval from 0-9999 seconds may be entered by the operator. A hard copy test record showing sample number, penetration interval and penetration depth can be generated on an accessory printer. Large platform accommodates grease worker cups and ASTM penetration containers as well as non-standard containers and constant temperature cylinders.
