For enamel rating of steel cans, the industry standard is a 2% Sodium Sulfate solution. The solution is sometimes referred to as #470 Electrolyte Solution. This electrolyte solution consists of 386.4 grams Anhydrous Sodium Sulfate, 4.5 grams Aerosol OT-B, and 5 gallons water. Solution can be prepared by weighing out the appropriate dry chemicals below, or by adding the pre-mix to 5 gallons of water.
