A reliable calorimeter with a plain insulated jacket for measuring the heat of combustion of solid or liquid fuels, food stuffs and other combustible materials. The weighed sample is burned in an oxygen filled metal bomb held in a measured quantity of water within a thermal insulating jacket. The bomb has a capacity of 340 mL, and will safely burn samples which release up to 8000 calories per charge. The head has a check valve for admitting oxygen, a needle valve for releasing gases, and one insulated and one grounded electrode. Furnished complete with a Parr certified thermometer, range 19 to 35°C. graduated in .02 subdivisions, and with a magnifying lens for reading the exact temperature. Standard accessories included with the apparatus include oxygen filling connection, thermometer reading lens, six stainless steel combustion capsules, fuse wire, fifteen benzoic acid pellets, and a supply of gaskets and sealing rings for the oxygen bomb.
