Fat Extraction Apparatus-Goldfisch, Six Unit, Labconco
Designed for determination of fat and oil content in samples not exceeding 5g and in solvents whose boiling range does not exceed 85°C. The fat extraction process involves the following steps. Any of the six sample beakers are locked to condenser and heat is applied. As vapor rises, release valve closes extraction system to reduce amount of solvent loss. After sufficient extraction, solvent recovery tube is inserted in place of sample container. Subsequent to drying, beaker weight is compared to original weight. The increase in weight is an absolute measure of the amount of fat or oil extracted. Frame is constructed of anodized aluminum with a 6 place stainless steel manifold. Unit includes six 100 Watt heater elements (heaters are operated by three infinite-control knobs with variable heat input from 20-100% capacity) six stirrup supports, six metal condensers with type 304 stainless steel heads, six automatic pressure-release valves, twelve 100mL beakers, six alundum extraction thimbles, heat covers, cork gaskets, beaker rings, upper condenser gaskets, nine sample tubes and reclaiming tubes. A 3/8" IPS control valve is located on the upper left side for connection to cold water supply. A 3/4" IPS water outlet is located on the upper right side for connection to an open drain of at least 3/4" IPS. A pilot light shall glow red when unit is on. An on/off switch and six foot 3-wire cord and plug shall be provided. Unit comes fully assembled and factory wired for 110V, 50/60 Hz, 5.2 amp AC operation. Dimensions: 35-3/4W x 9D x 26-7/8"H.
